Hello and welcome to Lauder Parent Council.
This page contains information about how you can be involved in your child’s education and learning.
Parent Forum
All parents and carers of children at Lauder Primary School and ELC are automatically members of the Lauder Primary Parent Forum. As a member of the Parent Forum all parents can expect to –
- receive information about the school and its activities;
- hear about what partnership with parents means in our school;
- be invited to be involved in ways and times that suit you;
- identify issues you want the Parent Council to work on with the school;
- be asked your opinion by the Parent Council on issues relating to the school and the education it provides;
- work in partnership with staff; and
- enjoy taking part in the life of the school in whatever way possible.
This means you can attend Parent Council meetings, become a member or give your views in other ways, such as emailing us at lauderparentcouncil@gmail.com or contacting us via our Facebook page.
Our Aims
To promote positive partnerships between the school, pupils and parents to enrich our children’s experience at Lauder Primary School.
The aims of the Council are to work in partnership with the school to:
- create a welcoming school which is inclusive for all pupils and parents
- promote partnership between the school, pupils, parents, and the wider local community
- develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of pupils
- identify and represent the views of parents on the education provided by the school and other matters affecting the education and welfare of pupils.
- Organise and run a range of fundraising activities and social events.
Getting Involved
Getting involved in the Parent Council’s activities is a great way to enhance every child’s school experience. It’s also a great way to meet other parents. You can get involved in lots of ways, with or without becoming a formal member of the Parent Council:
- Help at our fundraising events – spend an hour running a stall, the cafe, or selling tokens
- Get involved in a PC sub-group (e.g. fundraising, outdoor learning)
- Attend our regular PC meetings – you can attend whether you are a PC member or not (dates and other details will be posted via Facebook, group call and the school newsletter.
Meet the team
The Parent Council is made up of elected and co-opted office bearers, and a number of regular voting members. We also have class reps who act as a link between the school and parents in their class, for issues and ideas in both directions. Parents can consult their class rep for any matter that does not relate to specific individuals and the rep may answer it directly, or pass it on to the wider parent council or school as appropriate. We are always happy to help with any questions or concerns. You are welcome to approach us if you see us in the playground, or you can get in touch via our Facebook page or at lauderparentcouncil@gmail.com
